I wanted to spend some time at a beach to try some surfing on Nicaragua's famous waves. I ended up opting to stay close to San Juan Del Sur, in Playa Hermosa. I wanted to go further north, but adding up travel time didn't make sense for my schedule.
Playa Hermosa is a beautiful private beach with one lodge. It was where a season of Survivor was filmed, but it wasn't that rugged or remote in reality with the hotel there.
There was no one on the beach though and it was perfect to practice on some waves and enjoy a few days of quiet. But at night, everything really shuts down. The restaurant closed at 7 and there was no bar area. Because of that, it basically had absolutely no social scene, which was a little surprising.
I spent my days reading in the hammock and went for a few surfs. I didn't have good surfs, but Playa Hermosa met what I was looking for in terms of beach time!
