Kuta, Indonesia

We stopped in Kuta, Bali for a night before our early morning flight. We weren't super excited about the area's reputation, but it made it easier for our travels.

It's a very developed, big hotel area. It reminded us a lot of South Florida. There's a nice promenade along the beach, lined with resorts and restaurants. There are a lot of bars and clubs, but none were filled or maybe it doesn't really start going until after midnight.

It really had no character that we couldn't get in Ft. Lauderdale. I didn't think the beaches or water was that unique, but we arrived late in the day. I didn't really understand why American honeymooners and travelers would take a 31 hour flight for this area. But it's an area that's popular with Australian tourists, which could equal in distance to Miami for most of the US. Bali is like their Florida or Caribbean vacation.

We walked a long bit of the promenade - all the way up through Legian (the next town area). They're all very close and similar in scene.

We did have a great dinner at Fat Chao. And good breakfast and the best iced coffee at Overstock.

After a quick run and breakfast, we were back at the airport to head to Thailand!
